We hope you enjoy your visit to Adams Point Beach. To keep everyone safe, please remember these rules:
General Beach Rules:
Memberships and 1-Day Beach Passes are open to residents of Canaan and New Lebanon, NY.
The following are not allowed at Adams Point: alcohol, animals, glass, smoking, fishing.
Do not swim from other parts of the lake into the APBA swim area.
Keep lifeguards' view of the swimming area clear and unobstructed.
Please take out all personal garbage, including diapers, when you leave the beach. Anything you arrive with should leave with you.
Please vacate the beach promptly at closing times, and exit the water during storms.
Do not enter the water until the lifeguard is on the chair.
Music must be accompanied by headphones. No speakers are allowed.
Lifeguards:
When you arrive, please check-in and introduce yourself and your guests to the staff on duty.
For the safety of everyone, respect the lifeguards and pay attention to their instructions.
If you have questions, please speak with the guard who is not on the lifeguard chair.
Swimming Areas:
No distance swimming outside of the ropes is allowed—before, during or after beach hours.
Swimming is allowed only in the roped areas. Please be considerate of other swimmers.
First area: Children under 6 must swim in the first area.
Middle area: Children under 6 must swim in the middle area with an adult, until they pass the swim test administered by a lifeguard.
Lap lane: Please share with all lap swimmers.
Dock area (third area):
Children 12 & under must take the “dock test” before being allowed to swim in the third area.
Children not passing the dock test must wear personal floatation devices and also be accompanied by an adult in order to swim out to the dock.
No flips, back dives, horse playing, swimming under the dock or outside of the ropes.
Refrain from resting on the buoys and ropes.
No large flotation equipment.
Watercraft:
Must remain outside the swimming area.
Boats may land from the water in the designated area. Please keep anchor lines less than 3 feet.
Kayaks, paddle boards, etc may be hand launched from the beach but not into the swimming areas.
Children:
All children under 12 must be supervised at all times by a parent or designated adult. Please do not ask the lifeguards to babysit. Guards' focus must remain on the safety of all of our members.
Children must wear bottoms or diapers, as per the recommendations of the Centers of Disease Control.
Behavior:
Play in and out of the water in a responsible and safe manner, for your own safety, as well as that of other members and guests.
Any activity or conduct that compromises mutual respect, safety, and/or the well-being of oneself and/or others will be grounds for revocation of beach membership and privileges.
